The Art Factory Timeline

The journey from short vines to independent filmmaking.

On 20 November 2015, Mandip created a short vine titled “Chihaan ki Pari” and uploaded it to Instagram. This marked the unofficial beginning of what would later become The Art Factory.

Friends soon joined as recurring characters, forming the early identity known as Super Mandip Vines.

Instagram vines were compiled and uploaded to YouTube as “Nepali Vine Compilation,” marking the transition into long-form digital content.

The core group consisted of Mandip Bakhunchhe, Somit Majhi and Sujan Kshetri. Meme pages and online communities began reposting the content, helping videos reach viral audiences.

Later that year, the parody “Man Vs Wild Nepali Parody” became one of the channel’s most beloved releases.

The team was invited to Himalaya TV’s Evening Show at Six, becoming one of the early digital creator groups in Nepal to appear on national television.

Super Mandip merged creatively with Fun Revolution TV, expanding ambitions toward web series and cinematic storytelling.

The web series Hostel Diaries launched but ended after three episodes due to lack of funding and sponsorship, at a time when content creation had little industry support.

Managing two production companies became financially difficult, leading to an amicable split. Mandip focused fully on SMTV Productions.

Notable works included experimental short films:

Algorithm changes and monetization challenges reduced reach, creating major obstacles for independent creators.

In July 2019, the company rebranded as The Art Factory. A new channel launched with the same goal: to create art independently.

The parody of VTEN’s “Yestai Ta Hobi Bro” became a breakout hit, reaching over 1.4 million YouTube views and more than 10 million across platforms.

The Art Factory collaborated with Chhalaang Media, producing music videos, advertisements and digital content.

The sitcom Roommates was filmed extensively but cancelled after sponsor and investment issues forced production shutdown.

Despite setbacks, members continued creating independently, carrying forward the identity and philosophy of the studio.
